Part of the HORIZON2020 European programme, supporting New Technologies of Information and Communication based solutions to reduce energy waste and CO2 emissions, EnerGAware aims to gamify household energy saving. Not only are the objectives to raise awareness of energy efficiency, but also to lead to behaviour changes. The project has therefore taken the shape of a serious game, EnergyCat: The House of Tomorrow. With this free life simulation game, available on app stores, players can learn the best practices for achieving energy savings at home. Within the project framework, EnergyCat was also implemented in a pilot of social housing properties and connected to smart energy meters, monitoring the impact of the game on players’ behaviour.
